Imaging services
Imaging exams allow radiologists (imaging specialists) and physicians to view structures and activity within the body. This is vital for diagnosis but also for treatment, to ensure your care plan is working as it should.

Imaging services we offer
X-ray
X-rays use a low-dose of radiation to capture images of the chest, bones and joints and abdominal area.
CT scan
CT (computed tomography) is an imaging test that uses X-rays to create detailed images of the body. During the test, patients lie on a table as it moves through a large, circular scanning device. The radiation level is set as low as possible on all of our CT machines.
CT scans are commonly ordered for:
- Head/brain
- Abdomen and/or pelvis
- Spine
- Chest and/or lungs
- Joints and/or bones
- Lung cancer screening
- Cardiac scoring
- Biopsies and/or abscess drainage
Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce high-quality images of the body. An ultrasound is a safe, painless imaging test. In addition to examining the baby in pregnant women, an ultrasound has a variety of medical uses, such as evaluating blood clots, heart conditions, abnormal growths or diseases.
MRI
An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a non-invasive medical imaging technique that uses magnets, radio-frequency waves and hydrogen atoms to create a detailed scan of the organs and tissues in the body. MRIs do not use radiation and may or may not use contrast.
MRIs are commonly ordered to examine the brain, head, pelvis, abdomen, spine, bones and joints.
Interventional radiology
Interventional radiology (also referred to as vascular radiology) uses imaging guidance to perform minimally invasive procedures for diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases and conditions.
Nuclear medicine
Patients who undergo a nuclear medicine imaging test take what is called a radioactive tracer, which is usually injected, inhaled or swallowed. The radioactive tracer gives off energy in the form of gamma rays, which are detected by a special camera to create detailed images of the inside of the body. Nuclear medicine imaging has the potential to identify diseases in their earliest stag
In nuclear medicine, this radioactive material helps doctors diagnose and treat many different types of diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine disorders, neurological disorders and other health conditions
Breast imaging
Wesley Healthcare provides comprehensive breast imaging services, including image-guided biopsies. Most appointments can be accommodated within a few days.
Mammograms can detect breast cancer in its earliest stages when it is most treatable. According to the American Cancer Society, women who are at average risk for breast cancer and are between 45 and 54 years old should get a mammogram every year
Heart screening and imaging
Wesley offers a wide range of heart imaging tests to help doctors diagnose heart diseases and conditions in their earliest stages.
Brain imaging
We offer brain imaging modalities to detect conditions in the brain.
Bone densitometry
Bone densitometry (also known as DEXA or DXA) is the most common method for diagnosing osteoporosis. The exam uses a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce images of the lower back, spine and hips to measure bone loss.
Advanced spine imaging
Wesley Healthcare offers the 2D/3D intraoperative surgical imaging system, the most advanced spine imaging technology for spine surgery. The system obtains immediate, clear images of your spine and neck bones to ensure the hardware is placed in the exact, preplanned position, which results in smaller incisions, faster recovery and better patient outcomes.
Fluoroscopy
Fluoroscopy is a type of medical imaging in which an X-ray beam is passed through the body. Fluoroscopy may be used to view the gastrointestinal tract, for catheter insertion, placing stents (during surgery), visualizing the blood vessels and organs during angiograms and for orthopedic surgery .
Myelogram
A myelogram is an imaging procedure that involves placing a needle into the spinal canal and injecting an iodine-containing contrast agent into the sac that contains the spinal cord and nerve roots.
Pediatric imaging
Wesley Healthcare offers specialized imaging services for pediatric patients, including kid-friendly CT scans and MRI studies. All exams are performed by a pediatric radiologist. We offer low-dose CT scans for children that reduce radiation exposure by 83 percent on cardiac scans and by 50 percent on scans across other parts of the body, compared to a traditional CT system.
