Do I qualify for bariatric surgery?
You must undergo medical screenings, a psychological evaluation and other prerequisites for our team to determine if you are a candidate for bariatric surgery.
Additionally, to be a candidate, you must:
- Weigh 100 pounds or more than the ideal weight for your height
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 to 39.9 with a diagnosed weight-related health problem, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or obstructive sleep apnea
- Be 18 years old or older
- Not abuse alcohol or drugs
- Understand the risks of surgery and the lifestyle changes that need to be made after surgery
