Some in Wichita working to close Black maternal health gap

Black Maternal Health Week is an opportunity to learn more about efforts being made.

“A Black mom is two to three times more likely to die due to health concerns during their pregnancy, and even up to 12 weeks after they deliver,” said Andrea Anderson, director of Wesley Medical Center’s Birth Equity Task Force.

Medical professionals said education and communication are key to reversing that trend.
