New emergency medicine residency aims to keep doctors in Kansas

A new emergency medicine residency program in Wichita is designed to strengthen Kansas’ physician workforce by training doctors locally and encouraging them to practice across the state. Backed by HCA CarePoint, Wesley, and the KU School of Medicine-Wichita, the initiative aims to build a sustainable pipeline of emergency care providers.

KU School of Medicine-Wichita hopes to create a pipeline of emergency care physicians prepared to practice throughout Kansas. HCA CarePoint committed to setting up the program, as did Wesley, and worked with the Wichita Center for Graduate Medical Education and KU School of Medicine-Wichita to organize it.
